She is Professor at Universiteit Antwerpen and Neurologist responsible for the adult epilepsy clinic at Universiteit Antwerpen Hospital. She holds a PhD in genetics of epileptic encephalopathies, and is staff scientist of the Neurogenetics group at Universiteit Antwerpen.
Here she is supervising the epilepsy research projects, studying clinical and genetic characterization of rare and familial epilepsies. She is member of the scientific board of KCNQ2 patient organisations Jack Pribaz Foundation and KCNQ2 cure, and member of the ILAE (International League Against Epilepsy) taskforce on Clinical Genetic Testing.
She has previously worked as a neurologist at the Centre de Reference Epilepsie Rares, Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris, France and as a postdoc at the Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle Epinière in Paris.
